My Mini M.A.C Collection (edited)

I have several M.A.C (Make-up Art Cosmetics) items - some of which were given by very dear friends, but mostly purchased with my own money. M.A.C is in my 'pricey' or 'high-end' list of brands therefore I only purchase items I really want and which I think is worth my money. I definitely do my research online by reading reviews before purchasing an item. Overall, I think M.A.C is indeed a very good cosmetics brand and if I had a little more money, I definitely would not mind getting more products to slowly grow my personal M.A.C collection (am currently lusting the eyeshadows! gahhh!).

Anyways, here goes. :)

1) LIPS

M.A.C lipglosses are vanilla-scented which I really like. M.A.C carries several types of lipglosses such as the standard lipglass to plushglass and etc. Do check out their official website for a more detailed description of each type.

2) FACE

I absolutely love M.A.C blushes. They have a great selection of colors and the blushes are long-lasting. The blushes come in a rather large pan size. Although I purchased these three over a year ago and use them relatively much, I have yet to hit pan! Great value, eh! Oh, definitely use a light-hand when applying M.A.C blushes because they are highly pigmented. Just see the pictures below. Va-va-voom bright!

     This blush is a gradient of shimmery orange to a matte coral-red (see blush pan).

     The middle swatch below is the bottom part of the pan which is the matte coral-red. 

     The fourth swatch below is the middle part of the pan which is a perfect coral.

     The last swatch below is the top part of the pan which is a shimmery orange.

3) EYES
I own two cream eyeliners that come in pots. These eyeliners have a very smooth texture, great color pay-off and long-lasting power on my semi-oily lids.

BLACKTRACK is a matte black and RICH GROUND is a shimmery reddish brown.

I have a M.A.C Paint Pot in CORAL CREPE which is a deep coral eyeshadow base that is used before powder eyeshadow application. The paint pot will prevent creasing on lids and also enhance the eyeshadow color. Another base I own is the M.A.C Cream Color Base in SHELL which is a frosty pink-beige which can be used either on the eyes as a base or cheekbones as highlight. Finally, two M.A.C pigments - MELON (shimmery copper gold) and SHIMMERTIME (shimmery baby pink) are loose colored powder that I use as eyeshadows. These two shades or gorgeous! EDIT: I missed out on one more item - the M.A.C Powerpoint Pencil in PERMAPLUM. It is a pencil eyeliner that is a deep plum color. Perfect for days that you won't want to go totally black but something dark enough to enhance the eyes. This pencil eyeliner was a gift with purchase.

EOTD 02 : Smokey Greens

So, I went to watch Rango tonight with a friend and since the main character in the movie is a lizard/chameleon, I was inspired to do a green eyeshadow look for the night. Teehee. 

As always, here are the products I used :

Stage Wondergloss Lipgloss in 12 Sophia

Apply an eye primer (Stage Prime Time Eye Base in Vanilla) all over the lids up to the brow bone : for eyeshadow to appear more vibrant and to avoid creasing (especially if you have oily lids).

Apply a green-colored cream eyeshadow (NYX Rocky Mountain Green) on the lids, passing the crease and leaving the inner corner of the eyes open. The cream eyeshadow will act as a sticky base for your powder eyeshadow to adhere to.

Next, pat on a cool green eyeshadow (Urban Decay Graffiti) all over the area where the cream eyeshadow was placed.

Blend out the cool green eyeshadow after patting it on.

Using a dark green eyeshadow (KATE Gradical Eyes green palette - the darkest green), place it on the outer crease of the eye and blend it together with the cool green eyeshadow.

Following that, apply a bright apricot gold eyeshadow (MAC Melon pigment) into the inner corner of the eye, blending it into the cool green eyeshadow.

Fill in the eyebrows (Elianto Definer Pencil in Brown and Revlon Rich Sable) and highlight with a matte off-white eyeshadow (Elianto Early Dawn).

Blend out the harsh edges for a smooth finish. 

Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara!

As promised, I did a look using the two eyeshadow colors I bought from Stage Cosmetics. You may check out the haul post here. FYI, EOTD is an abbreviation for EYES OF THE DAY. :) Many more abbreviations to come as this blog progresses.

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Dramatic Look mascara (non-waterproof formula)

 Start off with a clean moisturized face.

Apply foundation and set with face mist.

Apply the eye primer all over the lid up to the brow bone area. 

Use a white-colored base such as NYX's Milk and apply a thin layer over the lid.

Using a shimmery lavender eyeshadow color, pack it on to the entire lid area, bringing it slightly above the crease with an eyeshadow brush.

With a shimmery taupe and a tapered crease brush, apply the color along the crease, defining the outer-V.

Get a fluffy brush and a matte cream-colored eyeshadow and apply it to the brow bone area. Blend out any harsh edges.

Fill in the eyebrows with a dark chocolate brown color.
Line the upper and lower lash line with a black liner and set it with the same eyeshadow used for the brows.

Curl your upper lashes and then apply mascara to the upper and lower lashes.

The finished look... very simple, everyday wearable look.

Stage Cosmetics Haul

I hauled BIG TIME after several visits to Stage Cosmetics as they were having the 8 ringgit @ 18 ringgit sale over a period of Christmas 2010 and Chinese New Year 2011. 

For what was to be 575 ringgit, I spent less than a third of that. What a steal!

10 nail polishes + 2 eyeshadows + 1 lipliner + 

1 eye primer + 1 lipgloss + 2 blushes 
= A VERY HAPPY ME! 

( I forgot to include the lipliner and the blushes in the group picture. :'(  )

Let's break down the items, shall we... :)

EYESHADOW

I got two eyeshadow colors (called Eye Shadow Mono) :-

10 Bahamas (shimmery taupe) and 26 Wildflower (shimmery lavender).

Texture/Formula : Buttery smooth to the touch. 

Color payoff : Not that great as I expected it to be. The third picture below shows Bahamas swatched twice and Wildflower three times. These eyeshadows will probably show up better with a base.

Bahamas can be worn alone all over the lid for a natural look. 

Pair it with Wildflower for a pop of color. Very pretty indeed! 

I will probably do an eyeshadow tutorial using these two colors and post it up. Stay tuned!

EYE PRIMER

The Prime Time Eye Perfecting Base that I bought was the lighter of the two shades available. I have not used it but when I do, it will be a separate post altogether as a review and how it compares to the other primers I already own.

LIPGLOSS

I was looking for a color that I did not already have in my makeup stash and after reading another beauty blog, Skin Deco, I decided to go with 12 Sophia for its cream peachy orange color. This has no shimmer/glitter whatsoever. Just a high shine lipgloss that adds a hint of color and creates plump-looking lips. I love how it is very moisturizing and does not have that sticky/gooey feel when applied on lips.

   

NAIL POLISH

I bought ten bottles. TEN. That's an insane number to buy from one particular brand but because it is that good AND going for less than half its original price AND with a formula that is formaldehyde and toluene free, I could not resist. The Stage nail polish is such an ease when it comes to application and the finish is so shiny that one would not necessarily need a top coat. Most of the colors show up with just one coat. ONE. Impressive, eh?! The pearl-finished polishes needed two. ( Hmmm... I mention a lot of numbers in this paragraph. Haha! )

LIPLINER

I wanted somethin' nude to pair my nude lipsticks with : 01 Nearly Naked. 

Texture/Formula : Pretty drying. Tugs lips during application.

Color payoff : Decent. The third picture below shows the liner swatched twice.

CHEEK COLOR (BLUSH)

I have a lot of blushes but I guess one can never have enough. Haha! I picked up two blushes in their refill pans (much cheaper, of course!) in 02 Iris and 10 Heather. If I had not already own more than five blushes, I would have gotten more. :D

Texture/Formula : Very very smooth, finely milled. Excellent quality.

Color payoff : AMAZING! These blushes are so good. The pigmentation is awesome. All you need is a tiny tiny bit to dust your entire cheek area. Picture below shows these blushes swatched once.

That's it for my Stage Cosmetics haul. I hope this post helps those who are new to this brand. I am not at all affiliated with Stage, okay! I am not getting paid for this post. I could not find any blog that has reviews on products by Stage so I thought I would share my thoughts on certain items that I got. 

All in all, I must say the nail polishes and blushes are the most impressive of the lot and I would totally recommend them. The downside is that the nail polish range has only twenty shades in hues of pink, red, purple and brown. So if you are one that fancy bright fun colors, this might disappoint you.
